Purple Rain was supported by 5 singles, 4 of them with previously unreleased B-sides. The first single — "When Doves Cry" was backed with "17 Days" (which was originally intended for Apollonia 6). Next was "Let's Go Crazy" backed with "Erotic City", featuring Sheila E. and becoming a legendary track in its own right. The "Purple Rain single followed, which was accompanied by the spiritual "God" (vocal version in the US and a longer instrumental version in the UK). The last single to have an original B-side was "I Would Die 4 U" with the emotional "Another Lonely Christmas" on the flip side.
