The prolific nature of Prince generates dozens of songs per year. During the 80s and 90s, the standard practice for musical performers was to produce an album every 2-3 years, supported by tours in between. Prince produced much more material than the average artist and since the record companies limited the number of albums he could release, Prince looked for alternate ways of releasing more music. One of these ways was through Extended Remixes and Alternate Versions. A remix can be a simple extension of the album track, a different mixdown or both. An alternate version is usually a re-recording with some ideas from the original track, such as "Violet The Organ Grinder". This section includes remixes and alternate versions from 7", 12" and/or maxi-singles. If a remix did NOT include new lyrics, we will not transcribe it.
