B-Sides Directory

The prolific nature of Prince generates dozens of songs per year. During the 80s and 90s, the standard practice for musical performers was to produce an album every 2–3 years, supported by tours in between. Prince produced much more material than the average artist and since the record companies limited the number of albums he could release, Prince looked for alternate ways of releasing more music. One of these ways was through B-sides. A "B-side" is a song on the flip side of a vinyl album single (which is the A-side). Sometimes the B-side is another album track, but often in Prince's case, the B-side is a previously unreleased track. This section includes B-sides from 7", 12" and/or single releases only. Some edited versions and other B-sides appear on The Hits/The B-Sides.
